Senior Partners Care is a state-wide program run by our Central MN Senior Federation and all of our partners together, to form a state-wide coverage.  Health care providers that contract with our organizations will then waive whatever part of the bill Medicare A or B does not pay.

Here is a comparison of SPC and other Medicare programs.

Look at this link to a YouTube clip about the claw back DHS is doing, calling it an "Estate Lien", which means when you die your estate will pay DHS back for any and all insurance premiums paid by them, plus an interest. Some are up to $40,000.

The bill including a correction of this was Omnibus package (HF2749) so contact your representative and senator and get them to fix this.

Fix It

Healthcare at the Tipping Point

This video, along the newer accompanying video titled Big Pharma: Market Failure, are the products of Richard Masters, CEO of a $200M company that makes table top and wall decor. Both videos may be accessed through the above link.

From the website: The film (FIX IT) was two years in the making, with more than forty voices advocating for reform, including: activists, health policy experts, economists, physicians, nurses, patients, business and labor leaders.

This documentary takes an in-depth look into how our dysfunctional health care system is damaging our economy, suffocating our businesses, discouraging physicians and negatively impacting on the nation's health, while remaining un-affordable for a third of our citizens.

From the website, about the second video: Big Pharma: Market Failure is a documentary that makes an effective business case for realizable change. It digs deep to answer key questions. How much do pharma companies really spend on research and development of truly innovative drugs? Do "free market" principles impact on drug prices and help control cost? Do the normal rules of business apply to the pharma industry? How do TV ads impact consumers and doctors?
Big Pharma: Market Failure proposes a solution that makes business sense for employers and health sense for employees. It is a compelling drama that reveals the truth of pharma cost and what we can do about it.

YouTube video of Richard Masters explaining briefly (4:41 video) why the current system with health insurance companies controlling health care delivery is making our country go broke and why he supports Medicare for All.

Did you know that reducing Medicare fraud is one step
towards making sure your grandchildren will have Medicare when they need it? You can do your part by being on the look out for fraudulent schemes such as:
• People going door to door to sell you healthcare items or services (only your doctor knows what you need)
• People calling you to ask for your Medicare or health plan numbers
• People offering you money or other incentives for health care services you don't need

A Minnesota Health Plan

Healing Health Care

The Case for a Commonsense Universal Health System

by Senator John Marty

In this new book (2016), Minnesota Senator John Marty provides the most complete, well-researched, thoroughly documented proposal for universal health care; a blueprint not only for Minnesota but for people across the country who are eager to create a health care system that works.

People who read this short book cover-to-cover will come away with a fundamentally different understanding of our health care crisis, and a belief that we really can fix our health care system.

Caring for Mom & Dad

A video through PBS

If you are able to see this video, it shows the struggle that family members go through to be a caregiver to a relative, in this case a parent, and still be able to support themselves and those they care for. In the 54 minute video, you will hear of many problems with the current situation, but also ways that communities large and small have developed to lend help to the working caregiver. (You have to be a member of PBS or a local station to view it.)
